Scotch tape is a thick,
sticky tape that has been used around the world for years. It was (1) invented
by an American (who was) named (V-pp) Richard Drew in the 1920s. Drew worked
for a company (which was) called the Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company (3M). Part
of his job was testing products at garages.
Scotch 透明膠帶是一種已在世界各地使用多年的有厚度且具有黏性的膠帶。這種膠帶是由一位名叫 Richard Drew 的美國人於1920年代發明。Drew 為明尼蘇達礦業(: Mining)及製造(Manufacturing)公司（亦即 3M 公司）工作，他工作職責的其中一部份是在修車廠測試公司的產品。
While
he was working at the garages, he (2)

The name Scotch caught on, and was soon used as the official (: formal) name
for the product. Drew continued to (1) improve (: make...better) his tape. He (2) came
up with an idea (: thought of a notion) to make it both waterproof and transparent. He released that
new type in 1930.

Drew’s new product would
